It’s been a year and a half, roughly, since most construction-related trade shows shifted abruptly to an online format. Now, with 2022 upon us, it seems the tides have turned and events are happening in person again. ICF Builder staff were in person at the June 2021 World of Concrete, and the general consensus was that everyone was greatly looking forward to the return of the “real” World of Concrete in January, as it typically is. There was a great deal of interest in ICFs in June, so we hope to see you all there to keep the conversations going.

It’s an exciting time for the magazine too, since we will once again plan for our in-person ICF Builder Awards Show. Believe me, we’ve got dozens of exceptional projects to show off to you. Of course, after nearly two years of limited in-person gatherings, you may feel your social skills are lacking! Don’t worry, because everyone else’s are too. The biggest difference may be that there might not be as many handshakes.

Another thing that will be different is there is no on-site registration. There will be no mailed badges. Instead, you must register all attendees and booth staff online beforehand. WOC will be following current Nevada health guidelines related to COVID. Nevada currently mandates masks in all public indoor places, regardless of vaccination status, including all casinos and meeting rooms.

The 47th World of Concrete will look slightly different to those who didn’t attend the June 2021 event. The event was the debut of the Las Vegas Convention Center’s $1 billion, 1.4 million square foot West Hall expansion. This year, the West Hall will house material handling exhibits such as trucks, excavators, and paving. The North Hall’s Producer Center features a comprehensive marketplace of materials, equipment, demos, specifically for concrete producers. This is also the place to find technological innovations and systems along with products related to precast, concrete masonry, and concrete reinforcement. The Cement Production Pavilion features all of the equipment and support services used in cement processing. The Central Hall contains displays on concrete repair and demolition along with decorative concrete and concrete finishes as well as masonry. The Silver and Diamond Lots will be used for outdoor exhibits and events including demos, heavy equipment, and decorative concrete products.

ICF Builder Magazine plans to hold the ICF Builder Award ceremony in person on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at World of Concrete, as in years past. We hope you’ll join us there. Most of the ICF-related booths will be in the North Hall, including this magazine, located at N1953. The chart below offers a quick overview of where ICF-related manufacturers are exhibiting.

This year marks the 17th annual ICF Builder Awards, which is the premier event for recognizing ICF construction. Last year marked the first time the event had not been held in person.
